Police are investigating after Fraserburgh lifeboat was dispatched to help two people in distress near to the north-east port.
The RNLI craft was launched at 1.16pm yesterday after receiving reports of a person lying down on the deck of a small boat near Fraserburgh harbour.
The lifeboat pulled alongside the smaller vessel at which point it is understood the person came round. The smaller craft was escorted back into harbour.
Last night, a police spokeswoman confirmed officers were called to assist the lifeboat crew when they arrived back at the station.
She said: “Officers were asked to attend at Fraserburgh Harbour this afternoon by the coastguard following concerns for two people on board a small boat.
“Two people have [subsequently] been assisting police with inquiries which are ongoing.”
