North-east charity to use £5,000 funding boost to offer financial advice and support

A north-east charity is to use a £5,000 funding boost to offer financial advice and support to people facing economic difficulties.

Aberdeen Foyer provides supported accommodation to homeless young people, alongside a range of education, training and employment opportunities and community health services.

It was awarded the money through the Clydesdale Bank Spirit of the Community Awards in recognition of the important role it plays in helping people in the north-east.

The funds will enable 150 people to access financial advice and support over a 12 month period with one-on-one confidential interviews and regular drop-ins providing training sessions and workshops.

Leanne Sinclair, business development manager of Aberdeen Foyer, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been granted £5,000 by Clydesdale Bank.

“This award will help us deliver a targeted financial education and advice project in North Aberdeenshire, in particular the Peterhead area, where people are affected by the downturn in the economy and the impact of welfare reform.”
