Letters will be sent by the city council to people persistently not using their recycling bins properly.
The local authority’s zero waste management sub-committee heard that certain areas of the city were often mixing waste and a “targeted campaign” would now be launched in certain areas of the city.
Red hangers have already been laid on some resident’s bins to warn them.
The council are seeking to meet strict Scottish Government regulations on landfill waste due to be imposed by 2021.
Committee member Martin Greig said: “We should be told how many households are not complying. This is important to know the scale of positive engagement with this service.
“It would be especially useful to record the numbers of repeat offenders because non-compliance adds to the costs of collection.
“Personal information should definitely remain confidential. It would be unacceptable to convey individual names and addresses.”
