A scout hut has been destroyed in a blaze this evening, prompting a police investigation.
The hut in Daviot, Inverurie, which is used by Gordon District Scouts, was engulfed in flames by the time fire crews arrived at the scene. It was completely destroyed, and police have not ruled out that it could have been burned down deliberately.
A fire service spokesman said: ”We went to Daviot at 6.26pm. It was a wooden shed that was on fire in a wooded area. When the crew got there it was well alight. A hose reel jet was used to extinguish the fire. The crew was away from the scene at around 7.07pm.”
A police spokesman added: “Ourselves and the fire service attended. A cause of the fire has not yet been established and this is under investigation.”
