A death probe has been launched after a woman was found dead at a north-east tourist spot.
Emergency crews were called to Slains Castle, near Cruden Bay, at around 9.30am yesterday morning.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland confirmed the body of 54-year-old woman had been discovered at the site.
The castle remains closed to the public this morning while police investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
In an official release, the force said: “Officers along with the Scottish Ambulance Service were called to the grounds of the castle following reports that a 54-year-old woman had been found unconscious.
“She was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The death is being treated as non-suspicious. As with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
