A motorcyclist in his 20s died in a smash with a car at a notorious accident black spot which has seen several fatalities.
The 25-year-old was confirmed dead following the crash which happened at around 5.20pm at Milton of Campfield in Glassel at a T-Junction with the A980. The road was closed between Banchory and Torphins until the early hours of the morning while police carried out an investigation.
A police spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that a 25-year-old male has died following a road traffic accident involving two vehicles on A980 at Glassel. Police Scotland are appealing for witnesses who may have been in the area at the time of the accident to contact them on 101.”
The fire service was not asked to attend.
Several deaths have occurred as a result of smashes near the junction on the 60mph road.
