An Aberdeenshire fundraising group has vowed to paint one of the region’s biggest towns yellow, in advance of a massive charity walk.
The Ellon and District Fundraising Group for Marie Curie are appealing for residents to strap on their walking boots for the event on August 26.
The charity raises money to help support people through terminal illness with nurses, who work night and day in people’s homes across the UK, providing hands-on care.
Starting at 1.30pm, at the Kirk Centre, participants can choose if they would like to walk the short route (1.5 miles) or the long route (3 miles).
Refreshments will be served in Ellon Kirk Centre after the walk.
Registration for the event will take place from 12.30pm on the day.
Registration and sponsorship forms can be collected from: Grays, J&K Shoes, Best Wishes and The Chocolate Bar, which are available now. Registration costs £5 for adults and £1 for children.
Ros MacKie, treasurer of the organisation, said: “The group are very much looking forward to running this first time event.
“We have a treasure hunt for all of the family to get involved with, but if the weather isn’t on our side, we would advise participants to bring their wellies.”
Since starting up in 2013, the group has raised over £20,000, which equates to 1000 hours of nursing care.
