Officers searching for missing Aberdeen council worker Nusrat Jahan have returned to the spot where she was last seen – exactly one week ago.
Ms Jahan was last heard from on Thursday, July 27, when she told a friend she intended to head towards the beach at around 9.30pm.
A massive air, land and sea search has been carried out over the last week, with coastguard and mountain rescue teams also helping and focusing their efforts around the coastal area.
Ms Jahan’s husband, Colin Dow, has also made a desperate appeal for information about the 34-year-old’s whereabouts.
And last night, police returned to Aberdeen beach in the hope of jogging the memory of local residents or passers-by who may have been in the area.
Chief Inspector Kevin Wallace said: “Aberdeen beach has played the most significant role in our inquiries to date, which is why officers were in the area to speak to anyone who was there last week.
“It has been seven days since Nusrat went missing and there has been no trace of her since. A major search operation has been ongoing to cover every possible route she might have taken that night, and every possible place she might have gone.”
Ms Jahan was last seen on CCTV leaving work at Marischal College at about 4pm last Thursday.
Officers hoped that by returning to the scene, they may be able to further establish her movements in the hours leading up to her disappearance.
Earlier this week, police revealed a member of the public had reported seeing a woman matching her description climbing on wooden groynes at the beach just hours before her last know phone call.
The potential sighting of the woman, who was dressed in dark clothing, would have been at around 6.15pm.
Ch Insp Wallace added: “The caller thought it might be Nusrat and we still trying to establish if it was indeed her.
“It’s crucial we track her movements after she left work last week.”
Ms Jahan is described as around 5ft 3in and of slim build with dark hair.
When last seen, she was wearing flat black slip-on shoes, black leggings or skinny jeans, a light grey patterned top, black rimmed glasses and was using a white handbag with a black band across the top.
Anyone with information about her whereabouts should call 101.
