A man has died after falling from cliffs off the coast of Aberdeenshire.
The man plunged from the coastal path at the Bullers of Buchan area, one mile north of Cruden Bay, yesterday.
The 41-year-old was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary following the accident but police have today confirmed that he could not be saved.
Coastguard teams from Cruden Bay and Peterhead, along with the RNLI crew from Peterhead, were alerted to the man’s plight at 5.30pm and mounted a rescue. A coastguard helicopter was also in attendance.
It is not yet clear how far he had fallen, but a police spokesman said that they had been speaking to the man throughout the rescue attempt.
The force has now confirmed that he died as a result of his injuries.
A spokesman said: “We can confirm that the man has since died, and as with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
“There are no suspicious circumstances.”
