History was made when Jim Tole set a new Guinness World Record for the fastest half-marathon ever completed in a kilt.
Guinness dictated that the record would only count if the 13.1 mile run was finished within 90 minutes – and Mr Cole finished with four minutes and one second to spare.
He completed the route in one hour, 25 minutes and 59 seconds.
The exhausted Metro Aberdeen running club member lay spreadeagled on the road after passing the finishing line.
Mr Tole said wearing the heavy item of traditional clothing had come with a price.
He said: “I’m used to being able to lift my knees higher when I’m running, so towards the end my legs were beginning to cramp up and I wasn’t sure I would finish.

“But, hearing the crowd on Union Street, I was able to float along for that last mile.
“I had never heard a crowd like it before.”
Mr Tole said he was yet to consider whether he would one day attempt to break his own unusual record.
