An eight-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after he was knocked down by a moped on an Aberdeen street this evening.
The emergency services were called to Cornhill Terrace after the incident took place at around 4.30pm.
The youngster was taken to Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital by ambulance, where he is currently being treated.
It is understood that the person driving the moped did not stop following the collision.
Inspector Simon Reid said: “Inquiries are at an early stage in relation to this incident and officers will be in the area of Cornhill Terrace whilst these continue.
“I can confirm that the family of the injured child are aware and with him at hospital.
“At this time I appeal to anybody who may have any information about the circumstances of this collision, particularly anyone who may have contacted the emergency services shortly after the incident, to contact Police on 101, or if they wish to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
A police spokesman said that nobody has been charged yet in relation to the incident.
The eight-year-old’s injuries are not life-threatening.
