A top-ten chart act and some of Scotland’s best new musical talent will take the stage this weekend at fast-growing Aberdeenshire festival Fyvie Live.
Now dubbed a “posh T in the Park”, the event returns to 800-year old Fyvie Castle on Saturday after its debut four years ago attracted an impressive 7,000 people.
Country duo The Shires, whose debut album Brave reached the top 10 UK album chart in 2015, is set to headline the festival along with Scottish acts Ciara Harvey, The Logans and Kim Anderson.
Glasgow busker Natasha Cook Jenkins also joins the line-up after the event organiser, George Walker, heard her talent on Buchanan Street and “just knew she had to be a part of Fyvie Live.”
The meeting was a moment of chance, admits Ms Cook, who said: “I was only on Buchanan Street to be filmed for a Sky Arts documentary, but I decided to stay out a little longer to busk – that’s when George heard me. It was a pretty big day for me.”
“I mostly busk in Glasgow and Edinburgh so this will be my first time performing in Aberdeenshire.
“It’s also my first proper festival and I’m so excited to perform alongside the other amazing acts and see what they bring to the table. I think the event is even better than a ‘posh T in the Park’ – it’s a day that can be enjoyed by all generations, old and young, with a beautiful venue and incredible talent.”
The festival also boasts pipes and drums, a special Botanical Bar, Best of Scottish stalls filled with local produce and crafts as well as a fireworks finale.
