The alarm was raised following reports of a vehicle submerged in water just after 4pm yesterday. Emergency services including police, coastguard and ambulance, headed to the scene at Tillynaught. The 23-year-old occupant, who was found in the 4×4, was flown to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but was pronounced dead. The police have now named the man as Michael Atkinson, 23, of Banff. Police said there are no apparent suspicious circumstances and as is standard a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
