A man has been charged following an alleged sexual assault in Aberdeen city centre.
The incident, which took place at Union Terrace Gardens in the early hours of January 28, 2016, involved a 21-year-old woman who has not been named.
Extensive inquiries involving national officers from the Specialist Crime division and North-east division have been on-going since.
Today, Police Scotland confirmed a 48-year-old man had been charged in connection with the incident.
He is expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Tuesday, September 26.
Inspector Sheila McDerment, who led the inquiry, said: “I would like to thank the members of the public who came forward with information during what has been a lengthy and challenging investigation.”
