An elderly man has been taken to hospital following a two-vehicle crash on a north-east road this morning.
Emergency services attended the incident on the B9001 Inverurie to Rothienorman road near the Gunhill Crossroads close to Daviot at 7.45am.
The collision involved a blue Ford Mondeo and a white Transit van.
Fire crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the male driver of the Mondeo, who is in his 70s, from his vehicle.
A Scottish ambulance spokeswoman said: “We attended an incident this morning at around 7.45am. We transferred one male in his 70s to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.”
A police spokeswoman said: “The road is blocked in both directions while we await the recovery of the two vehicles.”
The driver is thought to have suffered a neck injury but is not seriously hurt.
A fire service spokesman said: “Two units were sent to the B9001 at 7.45am after receiving reports of a collision involving two vehicles.
“A male was trapped in one of the vehicles and crews used hydraulic equipment to release him.”
The B9001 remains closed following the crash until vehicles have been recovered.
