Glasses have been raised as a toast to two brothers who came to the rescue by funding a marquee for a cancer charity’s masked ball.
Friends of Anchor has linked up with Banchory brothers Guy and Mungo Finlayson, the men behind the new OriGins gin festival, to arrange a marquee for its popular annual ball.
A record 500 tickets have already been sold for the ball.
The Finlaysons have funded the marquee for the event at Duthie Park in Aberdeen on Friday, November 10. The charity has confirmed it would not have been able to run the event if the brothers had not stepped in. The gin festival runs at the park for the following two days.
Sarah-Jane Hogg, of Friends of Anchor, said: “This partnership with OriGins Festival has been a year in the making. When we met at the end of 2017, it was clear the ingredients were there for a solid working relationship to work collaboratively on a joint event weekend.
“The spectacular marquee in the park is what makes the masked ball a special and unique event for our guests to attend, so we are incredibly grateful to have Guy and Mungo on board covering the full cost of the structure.”
Mungo Finlayson added: “We are extremely excited to be able to work alongside Friends of Anchor, helping support their passion and drive to bring the very best care, treatment and support for north-east cancer patients.
“We were always keen to do a city festival and, when this opportunity came for a charity partnership, it was the ideal motivation to make this event happen in our festival calendar.”
Early bird tickets for the gin festival sold out in the first two days. More than 60 craft gin houses will be there with their liqueurs.
