A popular north-east attraction for youngsters is set to move out of Cruden Bay.
The village’s fairy woods has drawn in hundreds of visitors since it first appeared earlier this year but is now likely to move to another community.
Dozens of crafted fairies and dolls houses are in the process of being uprooted out of the woods and are being packed away for transport.
It is hoped that an agreement will eventually be reached between the organisers of the fairy woods and Aden Country Park to have the magical creatures set up a permanent home there.
For now, however, a small selection is being hosted at the Kilmarnock Arms Hotel in Cruden Bay.
One of the artists behind the Fairy Woods, who have decided to remain anonymous, said they wanted to leave something in the village to remember the fairies by.
“We are yet to meet to finalise the details (of moving to Mintlaw), this meeting will take place on November 1,” she added.
The group has also started a fundraiser to purchase the tools and equipment needed to start building more fairy houses for the community to enjoy and to “bring back magic to children”.
“We want to develop our skills onto bigger projects, but lack the tools to do so,” the group has said.
“We want to create a wonderland for everyone that’s free.”
The project at Cruden Bay had started after one of the artist’s grandchildren lost a tooth and wanted “evidence” that fairies existed.
They said: “We just kind of did it on a whim and we just keep on coming up with more ideas.
“People now want to be part of the community and it is about getting people and children involved.”
The move elsewhere has been prompted by the discovery that the woods are private land.
