A bomb squad were called to an Aberdeenshire town today after a war shell was discovered in a back garden.
The owner of the property made the discovery this morning and police headed to Gordon Street in Huntly just before midday.
Nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution and streets were cordoned off while officers waited for a specialist Unexploded Ordinance Disposal team to arrive from Edinburgh.
They were able to remove the device safely and no one was hurt.
Residents returned to their homes and the road was re-opened at around 5pm.
