Police officers have launched an investigation at an Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route construction site after a digger was set on fire.
The emergency services were made aware of the blaze, close to Chapel of Stoneywood, shortly before 10pm on Thursday evening.
Firefighters took just under an hour to put out the fire.
The construction vehicle was left severely burned, and the cab was completely destroyed.
Investigating officer, Constable Michael Christiansen, said: “Inquiries into the incident are currently ongoing.
“If anyone recalls seeing or hearing any suspicious behaviour in the area on Thursday night, I would ask that they contact Police Scotland on 101.
“Information can also be reported anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
A spokesman for Transport Scotland said: “We are aware of an incident that occurred last night around the Chapel of Stoneywood area.
“The contractor has reported the incident to Police Scotland, who are investigating. It is therefore inappropriate for us to comment further at this stage.”
Transport Scotland launched investigations into a number of incidents on the bypass this year, including the toppling of a number of lorries.
