Police have detained a man after a woman’s body was found in an Aberdeen flat.
Emergency services were called to a property in the Rosemount Viaduct area of the city at 7.40am.
Officers from the local community policing team attended and the body of a 20-year-old woman was discovered inside.
Detective Chief Inspector Iain Smith, from the Major Investigation Team said: “I can confirm that the death is being treated as suspicious, and a 32-year-old man is currently detained and assisting the Major Investigation Team with its inquiries.
“I am not able to discuss or speculate on the details of an ongoing investigation, however I must stress that we are content that this has been a contained and isolated incident.
“Our thoughts at this tragic time are with the family and friends of the young woman involved. As formal identification is yet to take place I can’t give any further details in respect of her identity, however further information may be released in due course.
“We will continue to carry out inquiries over the next few days in the area and the local community is thanked for their patience meantime.”
