A man is expected to appear in court today in connection with the death of a “one-of-a-kind” Kemnay woman.
Chloe Miazek was found dead in a flat in the Rosemount area of Aberdeen on Friday morning after neighbours raised the alarm with police.
Detectives launched a major investigation, going door-to-door and scouring CCTV for clues as to what happened to the 20-year-old.
And today a 32-year-old man will appear at the city’s sheriff court in connection with her death.
Tributes for the bubbly young woman poured in over the weekend, with friends describing Miss Miazek, who would have turned 21 next week, as an outgoing “happy wee soul”.
In a family statement, her parents Bob and Theresa said: “We are absolutely devastated following the death of our beautiful daughter and sister, Chloe.
“She was in the prime of her life and had so much to look forward to and it is difficult for us to comprehend that she is not here with us today.
“Chloe was a loving daughter to Bob and Theresa, sister to Nathan and friend to many, including at her work at Tesco in Inverurie. She will be sorely missed.”
Childhood friend Natasha Mathers, 20, said: “Chloe was an absolute one-of-a-kind.
“She was always happy and so outgoing. I have never met anyone like her.
“She was one of those people that would speak to anyone.
“I had spoken to her about a week ago in Tesco and she had been moaning about folk not turning up for work and not even bothering to phone ahead.
“So when I heard she had not turned up for work I thought something must have happened.
“I’ve been reading comments online and can see that she was someone who has touched a lot of people.” Friends, colleagues and customers also paid tribute online to Miss Miazek.
Nicola Kinnon said: “This is so sad. My thoughts are with all Chloe’s family. We always spoke to her in Tesco and she was so lovely with my kids.”
Marion Chapman described it as a “terrible tragedy” and added: “She was such a lovely, friendly girl and her parents should be very proud of the lovely young woman that she was. She was always smiling and helpful.”
Police have warned people to be aware of a fake fundraising campaign which has been set up in the name of the family of Chloe Miazek.
Detective inspector Gary Winter from Police Scotland’s major investigations team said: “The page, carried on the www.youcaring.com website, is not connected to relations of Chloe Miazek and has caused unnecessary further distress to a family trying to come to terms with her death.
“We have contacted the website to make them aware of our concerns.
“In the meantime, I would ask people not to donate to this fundraising page and to share this message to prevent others from donating to it.”
