Four dedicated north-east volunteers have been rewarded for their stalwart efforts with British Empire Medals.
Individuals from as far afield as Peterhead and Bridge of Don travelled to the Invermerkie Lodge on Friday where they were praised for their endeavours.
Among those to pick up the accolade was Eileen Buchan who helps manage the Peterhead Sea Cadets.
During her time in the role, which she combines with being a primary school teacher, she has raised more than £200,000 which has given the group’s unit a new roof as well as new dinghies, space to store boats and a new minibus.
There was also a reward for Alastair Cassie, the man dubbed Mr Ballater for his commitment to the town.
During more than 40 years of work, he has helped establish Victoria Week – a ten-day festival of entertainment in the area every August – and also secured the renovation of the Mackenzie Come and Rest Memorial.
Mary McCowan was rewarded for her work as a first aid volunteer with the British Red Cross.
The Bridge of Don resident has worked at numerous events from T in the Park to tea dances and has also organised numerous training sessions.
Christine Sutherland was also given recognition for her commitment to the community of Banff and Buchan.
As well as being a founder member of the central Buchan Rotary club, she has organised charitable events through the Inner Wheel and Arts Club.
