Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery at an Aberdeenshire restaurant.
The Casa Salvatore restaurant, Station Road, Ellon was targeted at around 6.40pm last night.
Officers are looking to trace a man in connection with inquiries. He is described as 5ft 8ins tall and of slim build. He was wearing a black hooded top with the hood up and had a baseball cap on underneath. He was also wearing black jeans and black trainers with orange piping round the soles.
Inspector Graeme Penny said: “No one was injured as a result of this incident however it was upsetting for those involved. We are appealing for anyone who has any knowledge or saw anything unusual or suspicious to get in touch with us on 101 quoting incident number 3096 of 13/11.
“In particular we would like to hear from anyone who may have been passing through Ellon Town Centre between 6.30pm and 7pm and may have dash-cam footage of anyone matching the description.
“I would like to take this opportunity to reassure the community that additional patrols are being carried out in the Ellon area in conjunction with the significant amount of proactive work we are currently carrying out in the town.
“This has included the deployment of CCTV vans, working with licensing officers to visit and manage licensed premises issues, gathering intelligence and executing warrants and working with the local schools to educate pupils regarding the perils of criminal activity and drug abuse.
“To assist us in this we are urging members of the public to remain vigilant and report anything unusual or suspicious.”
