An alleged attempted robbery at an Aberdeenshire restaurant is no longer being treated as a crime.
Police issued an appeal for information yesterday after the Casa Salvatore in Ellon was allegedly targeted on Monday night.
But officers said today that following inquiries the incident “is no longer being treated as a crime”.
Inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances in which this matter was reported to police.
Inspector Graeme Penny said: “Due to new information received in relation to this incident, we are satisfied that no crime was committed. An assessment is currently being carried out with regard to potential action for wasting police time.
“I would like to thank the members of the community who contacted us in response to our appeal for information – your assistance and support was greatly appreciated.
“Ellon is generally an extremely safe place to live and work so when any crime is reported to us, it will be taken seriously.”
