Residents in the north of Scotland are being warned that they could wake up to a snowy scene on Thursday morning.
The Met Office has issued a ‘Be Aware’ yellow warning for Highlands and islands and Grampian, covering from 3am to 1pm.
The chief forecaster’s assessment on the website reads: “Snow is expected to develop across parts of Scotland early on Thursday. Snow is likely to become heavy and persistent for a time on Thursday morning before easing during the early afternoon. 2-5 cm of snow is likely for many parts with 10-20 cm possible in places, mainly over higher ground. There remains some uncertainty regarding where the heaviest snow will fall.”
The warning adds that there could be some disruption to road and railway journeys.
