An Aberdeenshire school has been closed to everyone after it was discovered there was no heating.
Uryside School, in Inverurie, opened to pupils for the first time at the end of October. It has replaced Market Place Primary, which closed last month after serving the area since 1863.
Aberdeenshire Council announced earlier this morning that the school opening would be delayed until a decision was made to shut the school or not.
A further statement on the authority’s website reads: “Uryside School – School Closed to Everyone ( School is closed today due to heating. Parents night is also cancelled this evening and will be re-arranged for next week. A text message will be sent to parents at 3pm this afternoon with further information.)
The local authority said the school will re-open tomorrow “as the heating and hot water issues have now been rectified”.
