A 68-year-old school bus driver has died following a three-vehicle collision at a busy junction in Aberdeen this morning.
The emergency services were called to the scene of the incident on South Deeside Road close to Maryculter Bridge shortly before 8am.
The vehicle was a private hire bus carrying 13 school children to Lathallan school in Johnshaven.
None of the youngsters sustained serious injuries.
The roads surrounding the scene of the incident, which also involved a Chap Quarries lorry and a red Audi, are currently closed off.
The 56-year-old driver of the lorry and the 40-year-old car driver have also been taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
South Deeside Road was closed while the emergency services attended the scene between Leggart Terrace and the Netherley Road.
Milltimber Brae was also closed, but all roads have now been reopened after police carried out an investigation.
A police spokesman said: “If anyone witnessed the collision or either of the vehicles prior to the incident and has not yet spoken to officers please call Police Scotland quoting reference inc 633 of 15 December.”
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We received a call at 0743 hours today to attend a road traffic collision in South Deeside Road in Aberdeen.
“We dispatched four ambulances, four special operations retrieval units and one paramedic response unit to the scene.
“Two patients have been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.”
A spokeswoman for Lathallan School said: “We have been informed of an accident on South Deeside Road this morning which was transporting pupils to Lathallan School.
“There were 13 pupils on board at the time.
“All pupils are safe and accounted for, and are either with staff or their parents.
“None of them have been seriously injured.”
