A man has been charged in connection with an early-morning raid at a Fraserburgh shop.
Shopkeeper Jane May was setting up for the day at The Corner Shop in Fraserburgh yesterday when a man came in at about 6am.
Last night, she said that he had asked for a chocolate bar before leaving the shop empty-handed.
But it is alleged that he then “barged” his way back into the shop and demanded Mrs May give him the money from the till.
It is believed he then fled with about £200 cash.
Mrs May, 54, who was not hurt, said: “It was about 6am when he came in the first time. He looked around the shop and asked if we had any Double Deckers.
“I told him no, that the only chocolate we had was on display.
“He was acting funny, but that isn’t really unusual. He hovered about for a while and then left.”
After he allegedly returned and stole the cash, Mrs May closed the shop and raised the alarm with the police.
And last night, officers confirmed they had traced a local 38-year-old and that he was subsequently charged in connection with the incident.
They confirmed the cash was recovered.
Detective Sergeant John Lumsden said: “We are grateful for the assistance we received from the public which enabled us to take quick action.”
