A man has been put into an induced coma after he was seriously assaulted while on a Christmas night out.
Police have now appealed for information after officers were called to the Bread Maker on Rosemount Viaduct yesterday morning, where they found Greg Houghton lying on the ground suffering from severe facial injuries.
It is believed he was attacked at some point between 2.30am, when he was last seen at the Vogue nightclub on Chapel Street, and 8.30am, when he was found outside the bakery.
His family said on social media: “He was on his work’s Christmas night out. He’s now in an induced coma with multiple fractures to his skull, bruising on the brain at one side, emergency surgery today for bleeding on the brain at the other side.
“His face is a mess with a huge swollen black eye.
“If anyone knows what happened or has seen anything, please get in touch with the police.
“We’re absolutely devastated and worried sick.”
A police spokesman said: “We were called to The Bread Maker at 8.35am regarding a male who was reported to have serious facial injuries.
“Inquiries are still ongoing. He has been taken to hospital.
“If anyone has information, please call 101.”
