The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (Sepa) has issued amber ‘be alert’ flooding warnings for the north of Scotland.
The alert covers Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, parts of the Highlands and Moray.
The warning for the north-east reads: “High tides combined with a storm surge are expected to affect coastlines in this area on Wednesday afternoon. Coastal communities may be affected by isolated flooding and wave overtopping.”
Meanwhile residents in the Highlands are being warned “Coastal communities may be affected by localised flooding and wave overtopping. The periods at greatest risk are the high tides around midnight on Tuesday and to a slightly greater extent around midday on Wednesday.
Pascal Lardet, flood unit manager at Sepa, said: “We are continuing to monitor the Moray and Aberdeenshire coastlines for any potential impacts due to high tides this afternoon.
“Conditions are expected to improve, however we would encourage members of the public to remain vigilant, especially in low lying or exposed roads susceptible to flooding.”
