A north-east man, who savagely attacked a woman after attempting to lift up her skirt, went on to to assault her friend in an Aberdeen nightclub.
Mark Esson approached the first woman in Prohibition on Langstane Place at around 2.15am and made advances towards her.
After he attempted to lift up her skirt, she tried to stop him and he responded by punching her in the face.
Her friend then intervened and Esson struck her face multiple times with his fist.
When Weronika Kozlowska, a bouncer on duty at the time, spotted what was going on and attempted to restrain him, he grabbed her and placed her in a headlock.
Another bouncer rushed to the scene and took Esson outside and restrained him.
Police were subsequently called to the scene and detained the 27-year-old.
Esson confessed to the offences, which took place on October 28 last year, during an appearance at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday.
Representing him, defence agent John Ferrie stated his client had little recollection of the events, but accepted what the women said to avoid them having to give evidence at a trial.
He added: “He is extremely sorry for what he did on that night.”
Sheriff Graeme Buchanan placed Esson, whose address was given as Kincorth Circle in Aberdeen, on the sex offenders register.
He deferred sentence on him in order to obtain reports.
The length of time he will remain on the register will be determined when he returns to court next month.
