A road in a tiny north-east community will not reopen without restrictions.
Council bosses have said there is too much unstable material to allow Harbour Road in Gardenstown to be used by motorists and pedestrians.
The route, which connects the bottom half of the village to the top, has been closed due to a landslip on an embankment directly above it.
A temporary wall was installed last month to catch the mud that is coming down from it.
A supervised reopening of the link will take place on Thursday, January 11 between 9am and 3pm, and Aberdeenshire Council have said they will work with the community on the most suitable times for any others.
A council statement said: “Work is progressing to develop a permanent solution for measures required to mitigate the effects of the recent landslip to enable permanent unrestricted use of the road by vehicles and non-motorised users.
“Once we have a decision on a programme for future controlled openings, we will advise accordingly.”
Rope access experts were drafted in to Gardenstown last week to help with a permanent solution to the landslip issues.
