Cannabis with a ‘street’ value of more than £6,500 has been seized during an intelligence-led operation at a property in Old Aberdeen.
Cannabis resin, herbal cannabis, a three figure-sum of cash and other drug paraphernalia were recovered following the execution of a drug search warrant in the Wingate Road area yesterday.
A 24-year-old man was subsequently charged in connection and is expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court today.
Detective Sergeant Bruce Buntain said: “Cannabis is a class B drug which can cause serious mental health and other longer-term health problems. For being in possession alone you can face a five year custodial sentence, an unlimited fine or both, and the stigma that comes with a drugs conviction can have a devastating effect on your future.
“The use of any type of illegal drug can have serious consequences, which means we carry out targeted action in the north-east every day to rid controlled substances from our communities and deter the anti-social behaviour that comes with using them.
“Please continue to let us know if you have concerns about drugs where you live or work – using your information we can build a picture of where and when to target our resources. You can contact Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 if you would prefer to remain anonymous.”
