A total of 10 people have been charged with alleged drink driving offences over the weekend across the north-east following continued police patrols.
Some of the offenders include a 22-year-old woman who was charged in relation to drink driving after being stopped in Aberdeen City Centre during the early hours of today.
She is expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court later today as is a 47-year-old woman who was stopped in the Blackburn area on Saturday for the same offences.
A 20 year old man was also charged in relation to alleged dangerous driving and drink driving after being stopped in the Fraserburgh area on Saturday. He is anticipated to appear at Peterhead Sheriff Court today.
Inspector Neil Morrison said: “In total, ten drivers have been charged following the weekend with three expected in court today.
“Whilst the vast majority of road users adhere to the anti-drink drive message, there remains a hard-core who continue to ignore the risks. This anti-social and potentially dangerous behaviour is unacceptable.”
Morrison added: “Drink driving will not be tolerated and our message is clear, if you are planning to have a drink make sure you have arranged an alternative method of transport home.
“The consequences of drink driving are far reaching; risk of injury, loss of licence, loss of income, not to mention the social stigma. Don’t put yourself or others in danger and don’t put yourself at risk of a criminal record.”
Anyone with concerns about people drinking and driving can report information to the police on 101 or via Crime stoppers on 0800 555 111.
