Stonehaven RNLI has launched an appeal to find volunteers to help bolster the essential lifeboat station.
The team has reached out to the community for more people to help save lives by giving up some of their time.
Shore crew members and fundraisers are being sought to keep the station operational.
Spokeswoman for the Stonehaven RNLI, Lorraine Clark, said on average the fundraisers would give around three or four hours of their time every month, but that participation was completely up to the individual, adding: “We hold about one fundraiser every month, ranging from ceilidhs to the Harbour Festival in the summer. There are other volunteers already on board, so they wouldn’t be expected to take on too much.”
Mrs Clark said the shore crew members would need to be resident in Stonehaven and ideally be available to help “as and when” to assist with launches. She said: “The role is essential to help the crew out to sea when the pagers go off. No experience is necessary as training will be given, but a good team spirit and an interest in boats would be desirable.”
