Police are appealing for information following the theft of two flags from Golspie War Memorial

Class A drugs worth almost £130,000 have been seized by police in Aberdeen city centre.

Police said that CID officers attended the Guild Street area yesterday acting on intelligence and, following a search, recovered significant quantities of heroin and cocaine.

A 37-year-old from London was traced in the area a short time later and was arrested and charged in connection with the recovery. He is expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court today.

Detective sergeant Bruce Buntain said: “This latest seizure is yet more evidence of our commitment to infiltrating illegal substances before they make it into our communities. It should send a clear warning that this illegal trade is not welcome here.”

He added: “It is crucial we work together with the public to target our resources to the right place and at the right times. Please continue to let us know your concerns about drugs misuse by contacting Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 to remain anonymous.”
