The Met Office has warned commuters of possible road closures, public transport delays and icy surfaces as a yellow weather warning for snow and ice is issued across the region for the weekend.
There is a chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces whilst bus and train services may be delayed or cancelled, due to a spell of rain and hill snow.
As temperatures fall widespread ice is to form on untreated pavements, cycle paths and roads with some road closures possible.
Heavy sleet, hail and snow showers to follow, these most frequent across western Scotland.
The warning has been updated to extend it further south and east, whilst delaying the start time to midnight tonight.
