A weather warning has been issued for snow and ice across the north-east.
The alert will come into effect at 8pm tomorrow and will remain in place until 11am on Sunday.
A spell of rain, sleet and hill snow will move east through Saturday evening before skies clear leading to ice developing on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.
A Met Office statement said: “There is a chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.
“Bus and train services may be delayed or cancelled, with some road closures and longer journey times possible.”
The chief forecaster’s assessment adds: “Rain and hill snow, accompanied by some strong winds, is expected through Saturday evening, clearing eastwards overnight. Above around 200 metres, 2-5 cm of snow may accumulate although there is a small chance of 5-10 cm falling over the Southern Uplands. As skies clear from the west overnight into Sunday morning, ice is expected to form on any untreated surfaces.”
