A north-east woman is looking forward to being reunited with her pet budgerigar after it went missing.
Buddy, who lives in Banff, vanished from the town on Monday, but was found by a motorist yesterday in Whitehills, around three miles away.
The Scottish SPCA was made aware of the missing pet and managed to take the two-month-old bird to their rescue centre in Aberdeen.
His owner, Claire Gill, had been given the budgie as a Christmas present from her boyfriend.
Miss Gill said she had been unable to sleep since her beloved pet flew away.
She added: “Usually, when I go out, he flies to the televison, but he must have gone round and landed on me and I never knew he was on me until I opened the door. Then he was gone.”
“I just want to thank who ever found him as I have not slept or eaten because I am so attached to my Buddy.”
The 26-year-old said her pets were important to her and played a big part in her life.
She added: “I am so happy because I suffer with anxiety and depression and love my animals. I don’t know what I would do if I lost Buddy and Rocky, my dog.”
Scottish SPCA deputy chief superintendent Tom Gatherer confirmed they were called out to deal with the winged escapee yesterday.
He said: “We were alerted to a budgie in Whitehills.
“The budgie was contained and we are now transporting it over to our centre in Aberdeen.
“Anyone with information should contact the centre on 03000 999 999.”
