A north-east man who brutally assaulted two women after trying to lift up one of their skirts has been ordered to carry out unpaid work.
Mark Esson previously admitted punching the women before assaulting a female bouncer in Prohibition night club, Langstane Place, on October 28 last year.
He appeared for sentencing at the city’s sheriff court yesterday.
Tony Burgess, defence agent, told the court that the incident was “tomfoolery” which had got out of hand very quickly due to the amount of booze he had consumed.
He said that Esson, whose address was given as Kincorth Circle, Aberdeen, did not realise that Weronika Kozlowska, the bouncer on duty, was female when he grabbed her but had let go as soon as he had realised.
Mr Burgess also told the court that the 27-year-old “accepted unreservedly” that he had behaved unacceptably but his actions had “snowballed” from one to the next.
Sheriff Sukhwinder Gill told Esson she had decided against jailing him after much deliberation.
She said: “This was a Halloween night out and some kind of carry-on went ahead and as a result it appears the whole thing escalated and you completely lost the plot.
“You then punched a female in the face and you then repeatedly punched a second female in the face and you assaulted a door steward. These are serious matters.”
However the sheriff said she took into account the gap in his offending and the fact that the incident had escalated quickly.
She ordered Esson to complete 300 hours of unpaid work over the next 12 months.
Sheriff Gill also placed him under supervision for six months and also put him on the sex offenders register for the same length of time.
