Choirs from all across the north-east have been hitting their high notes to prepare for a charity singing competition.
The Sing, Sing, Sing contest will take place at the Beach Ballroom on May 20, with all proceeds going towards the VSA’s mental health services in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
Presented by songstress sensation Fiona Kennedy, the popular event – which is now in its third year – has already raised more than £50,000 for the charity.
A total of eight choirs have signed up for this year’s Sing, Sing, Sing, and last night many of them attended a group practice session at the Broomhill Activity Centre.
Vicki Youngson, the organiser of this year’s competition, said the VSA is hoping to sell as many tickets as possible to help the event raise more cash this year than ever before.
She said: “It’s been absolutely fantastic, we’ve got loads of choirs that have signed up for every year so far, which is a really impressive commitment.
“And for 2018 we’ve also got two additional choirs which are really interesting – an all-children’s choir, and a signing choir who will perform in sign language, with Fiona Kennedy singing with them.
“Although it is a competition, the main focus is definitely on having fun and raising money for the VSA’s mental health services at the same time.
“We’re really hoping this year to smash our previous fundraising records and sell out the Beach Ballroom.
“Sing, Sing, Sing is already one of the most important highlights of the VSA’s year.”
