North-east SNP MSP Mark McDonald has announced his resignation from the party today.
He stepped from his role as childcare minister in November after admitting he had caused a woman “considerable distress”.
Mr McDonald was then suspended by his party amid an investigation into allegations of inappropriate conduct.
In a statement earlier today, he said would still continue to sit as an independent MSP for Aberdeen Donside.
He said: “My behaviour towards two individuals fell below the level of professionalism that they were entitled to expect of me, whether in a professional or a social context.”
His announcement came ahead of an SNP group meeting at Holyrood, where his colleagues had been due to vote on whether or not to allow him back into the party.
