A fire has destroyed the roof of a north-east joinery workshop.
The blaze at David Urquhart joiners and undertakers outside Portsoy broke out at lunchtime on Saturday and fire crews took around two hours to put it out.
The fire service confirmed later that more than 30 fire fighters were called out to the incident at the Glenglassaugh workshop.
The joinery and undertaker firm is operated by father and son David and William Urquhart who were too upset to speak about the extent of the damage last night.
The pair are still counting the cost of the fire at their workshop, which sits next to the Glenglassaugh whisky distillery near the A98 Banff to Buckie road.
Mr Urquhart junior did not want to go into the specific details of the blaze, which devastated the building.
But he said: “We are pretty cut up about it.”
The fire service added that six appliances were called out to the building and there were no injuries.
Firefighters cordoned off the area while they battled in vain to save the joinery firm’s tools and other equipment from the effects of the blaze.
They used breathing apparatus and thermal imaging cameras during the operation.
The fire left a huge hole in the roof of a building, its contents were charred by the flames and the metal walls of the structure were bent out of place.
Firefighting pesonnel returned to the scene for around two hours early yesterday morning to dampen down any hot spots around the affected area.
Last night, a fire service spokeswoman confirmed the details of their call out.
She said: “We had six appliances called out to a joinery workshop outside Portsoy. It was an area of about 50 metres by about 10 metres that was well alight.
“Crews came from Portsoy, Cullen, Keith, Turriff, Aberchirder and Macduff.
“The call came in at 12.57pm and we got the stop message at 3pm.
“We were out there this morning to dampen down some hotspots.
“There were no casualties.”
