A series of events will highlight the importance of a north-east coastline and its eco-system.
The seaside will come under the microscope later this month when Macduff Marine Aquarium teams up with local surfers to tackle pollution.
Its special calendar of events comes as the nation moves its clocks forward for British Summer Time ahead of the holidays.
And last night, a spokeswoman for Aberdeenshire Council, which runs the aquarium, said: “On the weekend of March 24 and March 25, the aquarium team will be sharing top tips on how to make the most out of your day at the seaside with insight on how to find seashore creatures, identify those beach combing finds, and how to stay safe while doing it all.”
Included in the weekend, the Royal Society of Chemistry will visit the port to discuss the dangers of micro plastics, and the local lifeboat team will give a talk on beach safety.
There will also be opportunities for whale and dolphin viewing from the facility’s car park.
The weekend starts with local campaign group Surfers Against Sewage kick-starting a beach clean at 9am on March 23.
Volunteers are invited to attend and help.
