An Aberdeenshire farmer will be overrun with visitors at the weekend after inviting the public to his property to experience lambing season.
Robbie Wilson of North Dorlaithers farm in Turriff posted a message online on Tuesday morning offering tours of the farmyard over the weekend.
The opportunity was meant to give youngsters the chance to meet with the young lambs and even offered the possibility of witnessing a live birth.
But within hours he was forced to announce that so many people had attempted to contact him that visiting times now needed to be arranged before arriving.
Last night, Mr Wilson said at least 300 people have been in touch since his offer went online.
“We get a lot of people asking about our lambs, so we put it online just so local people could have the chance to come out,” he said.
“But it went viral.
“We’ve had to actually start giving people time slots just so we don’t have too much people turning up – but we expect a lot of people here over Saturday and Sunday.
“There’s been over 300 in touch with me already, so it’ll be a busy weekend. We just want to show people what farming is all about and how much work is involved – and just how well the sheep are looked after here.”
Mr Wilson, who is an accomplished sheep breeder, has bred sheep in the north-east since 1991, when he took in a flock of Strathisla Suffolk.
Since then, he has expanded into Milnbank Texels.
He regularly shows his animals in shows around the region and is currently in the process of preparing for this year’s Highland Show.
Anyone interested in visiting the farm over the weekend is asked to send a text message to 07891 217 493 so that a time can be arranged.
