A man has been jailed after being caught with almost £1,000 of class A drugs hidden inside 22 Kinder eggs.
Alan Blundell yesterday admitted supplying drugs and of failing to appear at court at a date in 2015.
Fiscal Alan Townsend told Aberdeen Sheriff Court that Blundell had boarded the Megabus at the Shudehill interchange in Manchester with another man, and was captured on CCTV carrying a black holdall. on July 29, 2012.
Police were waiting for the 29-year-old, whose address was given as HMP Low Moss, Glasgow, when he got off the bus in Aberdeen on his own.
He was taken to Queen Street Police Station, but after finding nothing when searching him, officers covertly followed Blundee to an address on Market Street – where they found him with the black holdall.
The holdall was found to contain a quantity of Kinder eggs stuffed with 22 packets containing drugs with a street value of £860. Heroin, cocaine and cannabis were found within the packets.
Defence agent Rebecca Houston realised he had been “stupid” at the time of the incident and had “not been thinking at all” when he accepted to transport the bag to Aberdeen other than to “get a free ride” to the city to meet friends.
Miss Houston added: “He has since turned his life around and has had two children with his partner who lives in Manchester.”
Sheriff William Summers said he had no alternative to jail, and imposed a two-year sentence.
