The past 12 months have been a huge success for Aberdeen Science Centre, with the attraction recording its highest visitor numbers in almost three decades.
Over the last year staff at the Constitution Street facility greeted close to 70,000 people, teaching youngsters and adults alike about topics including space, lasers and marine life.
This figure includes 55,753 visitors to the centre itself – up 1,400 on the previous year.
Preparations are underway for a £4.7million redevelopment of the site, which will almost double its floor space.
Originally known as Satrosphere, the centre opened in 1990 in Justice Mill Lane then moved to its current location in 2000.
Chief executive Liz Hodge said: “This is a fantastic result and is all down to the hard work and continued commitment of our staff to make the centre a great place to visit.
“As many people are aware, the centre is in need of some refurbishment, but our dynamic team continually strives to develop exciting programmes and workshops and ensure that every visitor to the centre has an unforgettable experience despite our current limitations.”
