A woman was taken to hospital after her car crashed onto its side and burst into flames this afternoon.
The incident happened on the A96 Aberdeen to Inverness road near Tyrebagger, on the outskirts of the city, at 3pm.
Police said that the red Seat Ibiza caught fire following the crash, but the driver managed to flee the vehicle before coming to serious harm.
It is understood that a passer-by helped to extinguish the flames before fire crews arrived.
A spokeswoman for the fire service later confirmed that two pumps from the city’s central station were dispatched, but only had to ensure that the area was safe upon arrival.
A police spokeswoman added that the woman did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.
A stretch of the southbound lane remains closed following the incident, with police still in attendance.
