Pubs and nightclubs in Aberdeen will stay open for an extra hour to allow patrons to raise a glass to next month’s royal wedding.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will tie the knot on May 19.
The extension applies to all licensed premises, with the exception of casinos, whose standard hours adhere to the 14-hour maximum limit.
It will allow premises to extend their normal closing time by one hour on the Saturday evening, into the early hours of Sunday.
Board convener Marie Boulton said: “Members were pleased to be able to grant the general extension in recognition of the interest there will be in the royal wedding and the celebrations taking place across Britain.
“There is no obligation on licence holders to use the extension but we expect many will.”
