Two north-east charities are celebrating this week after benefiting from a ball highlighting the work of hundreds of young professionals.

The Aberdeen Young Professionals Ball took place on Friday night, showcasing the achievements of fledgling workers in sectors such as energy, marketing, PR and law.

The ceremony was arranged by the Aberdeen Young Professionals group, which will mark a decade of helping guide people into their careers next year.

But as well as bringing glitz and glamour to the Hilton Treetops hotel, the black tie event had a focus on assisting residents in need of help through various circumstances.

A raffle raised £1,505 to be shared between cancer charity Maggie’s and Aberdeen Mental Health.

Paula Cormack, fundraising manager at Maggie’s Aberdeen, said: “We were thrilled to learn that Maggie’s had been chosen as one of the beneficiaries of this fabulous event and were amazed at the generosity of all who attended.

“Fundraising like this is so important in ensuring that the Maggie’s Centre can continue providing vital support to help people in the north east who are facing the challenges of cancer.”

A spokeswoman for Aberdeen Mental Health added: “We really appreciate the donation from the fundraising raffle. The AYP Ball has done us proud.”

The event was held in conjunction with DCT Media and main sponsor, Peterson.
